What a Way to Dye

Indigo dyeing is one of the oldest traditions of fabric decoration, and the world’s only source of natural blue dye. We are thrilled that one of our long time students, Julie Sinden, will be holding an intro to indigo dyeing workshop at the studio. Julie is an award winning textile artist with years of experience working with both natural and synthetic dyes.
In the 3 hour class, participants will have the choice of dyeing three tea towels or three pieces of fabric. We will explore two surface design techniques, shibori and clay resist. In between steps Julie will be talking more broadly about natural dyeing, fabric decoration and the many different directions one can take.
