Wheel Throwing Workshop with Cathleen Nicolson

Wheel Throwing Workshop with Cathleen Nicolson
Join us at Clay Space on Saturday, January 31st, from 5–8 PM for a special wheel-throwing workshop with Cathleen Nicolson. We’ll explore both historical and contemporary approaches to altered wheel work, followed by a live demonstration that begins with a classic symmetrical form and shows multiple ways to transform it. Participants will then have the opportunity to get on the wheel themselves and receive hands-on guidance as they experiment with the featured alteration techniques.
Notes: This workshop focuses on practicing wheel-throwing techniques only, and participants will get to keep one piece at the session.
Price:
$150 + HST (For members and student)
$165 + HST (For non-members)
If you’re only interested in watching, you can reserve a spot to observe and learn from the workshop for just $25 + HST, an affordable way to gain insight and inspiration without participating hands-on.

About the artist
Cathleen Nicholson graduated from the Sheridan College School of Crafts and Design in 1997, after which she stayed on as a student resident artist with a multi-year residency in the legendary ceramic studio. Her beginning as a teaching assistant developed into a teaching position in the art fundamentals program and eventually throughout the full time ceramic program, landing on an intermediate throwing and atmospheric firing class.
The wheel-centric composition process has always been the primary research focus for Cathleen.
